The Littlest Dark Knight – 36/365
Dashing off into the night to save the day!
My guest post on how I made this image – HOW I PHOTOGRAPHED BATMAN (AND BATGIRL)
Birthday Party – 34/365
I wanted to post this image because it shows that even in the worst conditions you can get an interesting image. This was taken at one of our kids friends birthday party. Inside, at night and they had turned off the lights for the candle lighting. Now I could have turned on the flash on my iPhone (or worst yet had it set to auto!) and gotten a pretty typical harshly lit camera phone shot. Instead I chose to try to get a non-typical image. Since this was not my kids birthday, I really had no pressure to get a usable image at all. As you can see there where plenty of other folks on top of the action. So I fired off a couple of frames and was lucky enough to catch the flash from the other photographers camera. I think that alone makes the image for me.
The First Time… 33/365
… I ever got close to balancing flash and ambient. I took this image around 1988 with a camera my dad had given me for christmas. I have no idea where I got the flash. I do recall getting these images back and being really stoked that I had actually managed to get close to what I wanted to do. I was also pretty freaked out by this insane scarecrow.
I am posting this just to remind everyone that this craft, this art, can come slowly at times. You don’t always nail it. In fact at the beginning you won’t even come close. Then things will start changing and you will get closer. This is the first image I ever took where I felt I got closer.
Happy Birthday Jack – 30/365
My guy turned 3 yesterday. Time sure does fly when you are having fun. Batman ‘jamies plus Spiderman cake, he is really into superheroes!
