The Sailor – 16/365
Another one from my session with Trung. This is my dads old navy peacoat that I brought along because I thought the collar would be cool flipped up’ed. Did I just say that?!? Does any collar ever look good flipped up? Well I think this one does.
If you need a male model in the Bay Area, check out Trung’s Model Mayhem profile.
Week of Lily Day 5 – 15/365
We end the week back where we started. The same image from day 1 with a slightly different processing. I liked this image so much and I could not decide which one I liked for so I decided that I didn’t need to choose!
Week of Lily Day 4 – 14/365
This is about when she startes to wonder when we are going to be done but is just too sweet to tell me she is done. I love the great little half smile.
Week of Lily Day 2 – 11/365
Lily decided this was a good pose that she learned from her Barbie fashion movie. I can’t say I disagree, maybe their are good lessons to be learned from Barbie!
Week of Lily Day 1 – 10/365
This week your are going to get a full week of photos of my super patient “go to” model Lily. I shot these with my new tri-fold reflector and a single SunPak 120J directly above Lily’s head.
The Fighter – 9/365
This is Trung. He found me via my Model Mayhem profile and asked to do a shoot Sunday evening. Even though it was pretty cold Trung hung in there like a trooper and we got some good images. This is my favorite of the bunch. If you need a male model in the Bay Area, check out Trung’s Model Mayhem profile.
Ode to Joy – 7/365
One of those shots I had in my head but took about 30 frames to capture it. This is a technique I use a lot for sports, slow shutter speed and pan the camera at the same speed as the subject. Fire a lot of frames and do a little chimping to make sure your pan speed is matching your subject. It is probably not going to be tack sharp at any point in the picture but the just sharp enough parts and the whole lots of blurry parts really drive home the message of movement. Then all you have to do is wait for your subject to cooperate. In this case my almost 3 year old on a spinning bug ride is happy to oblige!
Golden Girl – 6/365
This light was so amazing I didn’t even care about the messy hair and Sharks hoodie. My daughter who just turned the big 5!
Lily the Eskimo
Since it is almost time to break out the Christmas lights I decided to try to do a little ring light with some wrapped up Xmas lights. It was a lot harder than I imagined, not a lot of light and a very wiggly little girl. This is the one image that turned out how I envisioned.
The Shyness of Lily
Taking portraits in macro mode is really hard but the results are worth it. This is one of two images that came out of this session, out of about 30 shots.

Mediaphyter Portrait
I love doing portrait work and I especially love doing it for cool people. Jennifer “mediaphyter” Leggio is certainly a cool and talented person. Last year she was named one of Silicon Valley’s “40 under 40“. She also blogs for ZDNet and you should really be following her on twitter.
Thanks again for letting me do your portrait Jennifer it was a ton of fun!
Don’t forget about me when you need that book cover!

Zed Band Promo Shots
Had a great time exploring an old abandoned building and gym while shooting some promo shots for the guys in Zed. Location was perfect for shooting with all the decay and trash around. Check out my favorites from the session.
Are you a band in the South Bay that needs some promo pictures? Give me a call or drop me an email!
